Symptom Lost or changed configurations when a drive is added.
Affected configurations The system is any of the following IBM xSeries servers:
an xSeries 330 server, type 8654, any model
an xSeries 220 server, type 8645, any model
an xSeries 200 server, type 8478, any model
The system is any of the following IBM Netfinity servers:
a Netfinity 8500R server, type 8681, any model
a Netfinity 7600 server, type 8665, any model
a Netfinity 7100 server, type 8666, any model
a Netfinity 7000-M10 server, type 8680, any model
a Netfinity 7000 server, type 8651, any model
a Netfinity 6000R server, type 8682, any model
a Netfinity 5600 server, type 8664, any model
a Netfinity 5500-M20 server, type 8662, any model
a Netfinity 5500-M10 server, type 8661, any model
a Netfinity 5500 server, type 8660, any model
a Netfinity 5100 server, type 8658, any model

The system is configured with the following option(s):
a FAStT200 HA, type 3542, any model
a FAStT500 Storage Expansion Unit (EXP500), type 3560, any model
The system is configured with Storage Manager 7.02 Utility.
The BIOS levels affected are:
Storage Manager 7.02 and higher
The Firmware level affected is 4.x
The system has the symptom described above.
Solution Apply 24P2751 Script file to run under SymSM 7.02 and higher for adding or updating hardfiles, available on the SymSM CD.
Run the DrMigrate.scr, then restart the controller.
NOTE: Do not use this script unless you have code level 7.02 (or higher) SymSM installed. If you do not have at least this level code and have run the DrMigrate.scr, then run NoMigrate.scr.
NOTE: The new code will not take effect until the controllers are restarted.
Workaround Recommended procedure to clear the data
In the case of fibre drives:
For an EXP500, connect the fibre cable directly from the HBA to the drive enclosure.
If using a 3542, connect the fibre cable directly from the HBA to the drive port.
To boot to the Quickview screen:
At boot up, select Alt Q Select Fibre Disk Utility Select the drive to be formatted Select low level format
NOTE: If the drives are being removed from systems containing other controllers, follow the procedure for low-level formatting the drives for that system before installing them into the fibre-based system.
Additional information There may be configuration data on a drive from testing or from running in another system. The controller will try to use this information resulting in wrong configuration and possibly wrong NVSRAM settings and/or level.
