Symptom
System experiences memory errors, blue screens, or hangs (The memory installed may also be disabled by the Service Processor.)
Affected configurations
The system is a Netfinity 5500-M20 server, Type 8662, any Model. The system is configured with one or more Processors. The system's Diagnostics Pass. The BIOS level(s) affected are prior to 19A.
Solution
Apply BIOS 20A or later. Obtain the BIOS image file Netfinity 5000 M20 Flash BIOS Update diskette version 1.04 (e.g. 09n8251.exe.) The corresponding text file (e.g. 09n8251.txt) is viewable on-line and may be printed.
Directions for creating a BIOS update diskette
The downloaded file (e.g. 09n8251.exe) is a self-extracting executable file that will prompt for a diskette. Follow instructions on the display to create the diskette.
Details
The refresh rate for memory modules was incorrectly set (in BIOS) prior to level 19A. This could cause memory problems.
