Resolving The Problem

Symptom
The installation of OS/2 Warp 4 onto a Netfinity 5000 stopped on diskette #1 and the screen froze on the Warp 4 logo.

Diagnostics
Press ALT+F2 while OS/2 is shown in the upper left corner. The bottom line showed PCIBUS.SNP while the screen froze on the Warp 4 logo.

Solution
OS/2 Warp 4 can detect installed hardware and load appropriated drivers. But the Warp 4 CD contains an old version PCIBUS.SNP which caused the installation hang on PCI device scanning. The solution is to replace the PCIBUS.SNP on Diskette #1 with the attached newer version file. (Click here to obtain the newer file ). And insert one line into CONFIG.SYS on diskette #1:
Set CopyFromFloppy=1
