Problem

RETAIN tip H165142: Adapter cards with PCI bridge (Limitations): The Netfinity 5000 server can support up to 4 PCI adapter cards which contain PCI bridges. If using the maximum number of PCI bridge cards allowed on Netfinity 5000 server (that is, 4 cards), ensure that one of the cards is installed in slot 5.

Abstract: Netfinity 5000: Adapter cards with PCI bridge (Limitations)

SYMPTOM:
The Netfinity 5000 server can support up to 4 PCI adapter cards which contain PCI bridges (e.g. Intel EtherExpress PRO/100 Server Adapter). If four of these cards are installed in slots 1 to 4, the system will post the following error message:

00180202 80865200 PCI DEVICE RESOURCE ALLOCATION FAILURE

PROBLEM ISOLATION AIDS:
- The system is a Netfinity 5000 server, Type 8659, any model.
- The system is configured with four (4) compatible PCI adapters.

FIX:
If using the maximum number of PCI bridge cards allowed on Netfinity 5000 server (i.e. 4 cards), ensure that one of the cards is installed in slot 5.
