Problem
After installing Windows 95 OSR2.x from the supplied Windows 95 CD-ROM, drivers for the integrated Ethernet adapter have not been installed. No "Network Neighborhood" icon is displayed on the Windows 95 desktop.
Resolving The Problem
Symptom:
After installing Windows 95 OSR2.x from the supplied Windows 95 CD-ROM, drivers for the integrated Ethernet adapter have not been installed. No "Network Neighborhood" icon is displayed on the Windows 95 desktop.
Problem isolation aids:
This tip applies to the IBM IntelliStation Z Pro Series 6865 system installed with Windows 95 OSR2.x.
The Ethernet driver condition may also be seen with other upgrade versions, including retail, of Windows 95.
Fix:
Use the following steps to correctly install the Ethernet driver:
1. From Device Manager, double click on Other Devices
2. Double click on PCI Ethernet Controller
3. Click on the Driver tab
4. Click on the Update Driver button
5. Click on Yes to search for the driver, and click on Next
6. Intel EtherExpress PRO PCI Adapter is found, click on Finish
7. Click on OK for the driver Diskette, type in a:\ for the location of the driver files
8. Click on OK to setup Identification information
9. Copy files from OSR2.5 CD, (CDROM_drive:\win95 directory)
10. Reboot the system after installation is completed
