Troubleshooting


Problem

Retain tip H163783: The cleaning light (amber color LED located on the right column of LEDs) on the IBM 35/70GB Internal DLT Tape Drive remains on.

Resolving The Problem

SYMPTOM:
The cleaning light (amber color LED located on the right column of LED's) on the IBM 35/70GB Internal DLT Tape Drive remains on.

PROBLEM ISOLATION AIDS:
All of the following must be true for this tip to apply:

- The system is a Netfinity 7000 server Type 8651 model RM0, RH0, TM0, TH0.

- The system is properly configured with a IBM 35/70GB Internal DLT Tape Drive Option p/n00K7900 (FRU p/n00K7898)
in bays 3 and 4.

- Cleaning the tape drive with a supported cleaning cartridge has no effect on the cleaning light symptom.

FIX:
1- Remove any cable (captured by the white cable clamp located at the right rear of bay #3) from the cable clamp.

2- Remove the cable clamp.

DETAIL:
When the "IBM 35/70GB Internal Tape Drive" is located in bays 3 and 4 of the system, a white cable clamp, if installed, can
press against the housing of the tape drive causing a false activation of the cleaning light. Removing the cable clamp resolves this issue.
