4.6 Post-installation notes

When Novell NetWare is installed on your server, you might experience problems getting clients to find the server and tree in IP environments. Go to the Novell Web site at http://support.novell.com and see TID 10053923, or complete the following steps to solve the problem:

  1. In the applicable fields, specify the tree name, context, and specify the IP address in the Server field (instead of the server name).
  2. Modify the HOSTS file on the client to add the IP address of the server, followed by the server name, if you do not want the user to type the server IP address.
  3. Install and configure slpda.nlm on the Novell NetWare server.
  4.  To add user licenses, complete the following steps:
    1. When the server installation is completed, log in to the server from a Microsoft Windows client authenticated to NDS as the admin user.
    2. Run \\server\sys\public\win32\nwadmn32.exe.
    3. From the NWAadmin menu, click Tools, click Novell Licensing Services, and click Add Licenses.
