Lenovo XClarity Integrator for Zenoss (LXCI) v2.0

Lenovo System x Upward Integration Modules for Zenoss extends the Zenoss Resource Manager heterogeneous monitoring tool with System x and Flex System infrastructure inventory information and events. The solution helps IT Operations transform from an endpoint management focus to a service-oriented focus by automatically discovering and modeling heterogeneous hardware and software resources in the environment, and immediately creating an asset-service relationship context. This end-to-end visualization helps IT Operations isolate and address problems faster, and reduce mean time to resolution (MTTR).

Key features include:

  • Agent-less software plugins installed on the Zenoss Resource Manager server
  • Automatically discovers System x servers and Flex System in the environment, and make them available for visualization and monitoring from the Zenoss Resource Monitor graphical user interface (GUI)
  • Visibility into System x and Flex System hardware and firmware inventory data from a unified monitoring console
  • Simple Network Management Protocol v3 (SNMPv3) based inventory collection, availability and health monitoring, and trap handling
  • Faster incident resolution through holistic and precise root cause analysis, with automated error and exceptions handling such as restarting system components.
  • Device relationship features provides a relationship between Chassis, blades and their resident OS. The user can view the resident operating system and corresponding chassis entry on IMM Overview page. Similarly, user can view the corresponding IMM and CMM device entry on the resident operating system Overview page.
  • Dynamic View feature provides a dynamic visualization of  system objects and  their relationships to other objects.
  • Switch monitoring is added which monitor the San/LAN switches present under CMM device.
  • Component Event mapping is added so that event generated on device can be mapped with its corresponding monitored component/record on Zenoss UI.
  • Service Impact analysis* provides a graphical  view of monitored  resources which maintains the relationships and interdependencies between constantly changing infrastructure and the service being delivered. Impact relationship between device and its components is created for IMM and CMM device classes. Impact relationship provides information about the device, the component that impacts other device, the component that gets impacted by other device, and the component. This creates a complete impact graph which enables a user to perform root cause analysis in case of an issue with any device present in the model.
