Lenovo XClarity Integrator for VMware vCenter, v4.1.0

Lenovo XClarity Integrator for VMware vCenter provides IT administrators with the ability to integrate the management features of Lenovo XClarity Administrator and the System x, Flex System and BladeCenter systems with VMware vCenter. Lenovo expands the virtualization management capabilities of VMware vCenter with Lenovo System x hardware management functionality, providing affordable foundational, basic management of physical and virtual environments to reduce the time and effort required for routine system administration. It provides the discovery, configuration, monitoring, event management, and power monitoring needed to reduce cost and complexity through server consolidation and simplified management.

Key features include:

  • Seamless Integration with Lenovo XClarity Administrator, providing physical hierarchy view of Lenovo infrastructure, visualizing inventory map views of managed servers and conveniently configuring servers with configuration patterns
  • Automatically discovers System x servers and Flex System compute nodes running ESXi and connected to VMware vCenter
  • Provide a dashboard overview of the managed host or cluster system inventory and health status
  • Acquire and apply the latest UpdateXpress System Packs and individual firmware updates to your ESXi host systems.
  • Eliminates maintenance downtime through non-disruptive rolling firmware updates or server reboots which automates the update VM migration and process of the hosts in a cluster environment without any workload interruption.
  • Minimize unplanned downtime by monitoring user-defined hardware events and automatically evacuating VMs in response to selected events to protect your workloads
  • Monitors and tracks host server energy usage, thermal history, and fan speed, and enables throttling and capping of energy consumption
  • Manages the current system settings on the host including IMM, uEFI, and boot order settings for the host.
  • Simplifies firmware management by assigning compliance policies to managed endpoints to ensure that firmware on those endpoints remains compliant.
  • Monitors changes to the hardware inventory and flags any down-level noncompliant systems.

* x3250 M4 2583 supports only partial functions in the Dashboard and Dynamic System Analysis; update, power, and system configuration functions are not supported.
* Power & cooling, remote control functions support only IMM2 system.
* PFA function only support system that provides out-of-band IMM access.

Additional information

Managed Server:

  • The plug-in supports Lenovo customized ESXi 5.0 (U1, U2, U3), 5.1(U1, U2, U3), 5.5 (U1, U2, U3) and 6.0 (U1) images. You can download Lenovo customized ESXi from Lenovo x86 solutions for VMware: http://www-03.ibm.com/systems/x/os/vmware/ or from: https://my.vmware.com/web/v.
  • For generic VMware ESXi, you need to download and install Lenovo Customization for ESXi offline bundles on Fix Central to enable all management functions. Without the offline bundles being installed, Lenovo XClarity Integrator for VMware vCenter provides limited management functionality. It is recommended that you update to the latest patch version on a managed esxi host at your earliest convenience. You can find VMware vSphere ESXi with Lenovo Customization Patch on Fix Central.

The plug-in supports the same operating systems as VMware vCenter:
