You can use the Lenovo Advanced Settings Utility (ASU) to modify firmware settings from the command line on multiple operating-system platforms like RHEL, SUSE, ESX/ESXi, Windows (yes also WinPE). It supports BIOS code, Remote Supervisor Adapter firmware, Remote Supervisor Adapter II firmware, Baseboard management controller firmware. Also since ASU 3.60, RDCLI is included into ASU software suite. RDCLI is an utility that you can mount ISO or CD/DVD to a remote IMM system. You can perform the following tasks by using the utility:

  • Modify selected basic input/output system (BIOS) CMOS settings without the need to restart the system to access F1 settings
  • Modify selected baseboard management controller setup settings
  • Modify selected Remote Supervisor Adapter and Remote Supervisor Adapter II setup settings
  • Modify selected settings in integrated management module (IMM)-based servers for the IMM firmware and Lenovo x86 server firmware. The IMM replaces the Remote Supervisor Adapter and baseboard management controller functions on IMM-based servers. Lenovo x86 server firmware is the Lenovo implementation of Unified Extensible Firmware Interface (UEFI). The UEFI replaces the basic input/output system (BIOS) and defines a standard interface between the operating system, platform firmware, and external devices.
  • Modify CMM VPD settings on IMM-based servers.
  • Modify iSCSI boot settings.
  • Remote connectivity to support setting all the listed firmware types settings on IMM-based servers.
  • Mount ISO file or USB/CD/DVD to a remote IMM based system, IMM must be exposed to network and accessable.
  • Feature on Demand activation keys management.
  • Secure boot configuration
  • Chassis Management Module (CMM) configuration.
  • Modify CMM VPD settings.

The ASU supports scripting environments through its batch-processing mode.
