Problem
STEP 1 Insert the Seagate Backup Exec Version 8.0 CD in the CD-ROM drive. Highlight Seagate Backup Exec Version 8.0 then click on the CD-ROM icon to install now. Click "Next" at the welcome screen. Select Install/upgrade Backup Exec software
Resolving The Problem
STEP 1- Insert the Seagate Backup Exec Version 8.0 CD in the CD-ROM drive.
- Highlight Seagate Backup Exec Version 8.0 then click on the CD-ROM icon to install now.
- Click "Next" at the welcome screen.
- Select Install/upgrade Backup Exec software on backup server.
- Click "Next".
- Select install/upgrade backup exec for Netware.
- Click "Next".
- Enter serial number or click "Next" for the 60 day trial version.
- Note: If the 60 day trial version is selected, check single server edition then click "Next" to continue at STEP 2.
- Click "Next" to go to Advanced Options Screen.
- Check box and enter serial number to install advanced options and/or click "Next" to proceed to STEP 2.
STEP 2
- Accept the licensing agreement.
- Select the server to install to and then click "Next".
- If prompted enter user information: Type user name and password to connect to server.
- Select Custom Install then click "Next".
- Install Options:- under workstation, check to install windows client. under server, check to install online documentation.
- Click "Next".
- On the preferences screen, make sure there is a check mark to update old nlms and also to run Netware client automatically when Backup Exec is loaded.
- Click "Next".
- On the Directory Options screen accept the defaults.
- Click "Next".
- Select the controller: AHA294X.
- All other options should be left at default.
- Click "Next".
- Software will begin installing files.
- Review the Readme Documentation then click "Next".
- Click "Done".
- Click "Next" on the desired target location.
- Review the Readme Documentation then click "Next".
- Click "OK" then manually reboot the workstation.
STEP 3
- Server - Run "BESTART" on the server to start the Backup Exec engine (user name and password required).
- Client - Make sure the server is up before starting backup exec on the client. Click Start>Programs >BackupExec Client>BackupExec Client.
- Backup exec GUI
- Select the targets to backup
- Click on Job at the tool bar. Highlight Submit backup and click.
- User name and password are required. *Note user name must be a distinguished name.
- Fill in the job information.
- Click "OK" to backup.
