Resolving The Problem

Veritas Backup Exec v8.0 for NetWare installation instructions when using the IBM 3502 Tape Library

  1. Install from the server console by entering: load (cd mount name):netware\beinstl
  2. Select your language, then press F2 to continue.
  3. Perform an evaluation install by NOT entering a serial number, then press F2 to continue.
  4. Select the edition you wish to install when the Backup Exec install screen appears, then press F2 to continue.
  5. Press Esc when the License screen appears.
  6. Press F2 when the License screen verification screen appears.
  7. Select the type of installation you would like (e.g. Typical by default), then press F2 to continue.
  8. Verify the install options, then press Esc.
  9. Select the type of controller the tape drive is attached to. Note: Select Other ASPI Compatible for the Adaptec 2940U2B.
  10. Wait during the message "Copying files...".
  11. Press Enter when the Autoexec message screen appears.
  12. Press F2 to exit the installation.
  13. Shutdown and power-off the system.
  14. Reinitilize the 3502 tape drive until Library Idle shows.
  15. Power-on the system.
  16. To start Backup Exec, at the console screen, type: BESTART
  17. Try a test backup, it may take a few minutes before starting.
  18. Installation is complete.
