Problem

This option determines whether the host adapter verifies the accuracy of data transfer on the SCSI bus. The default is Enabled. You should disable SCSI Parity Checking if any SCSI device, connected to the host adapter, does not support SCSI parity. A

Resolving The Problem

This option determines whether the host adapter verifies the accuracy of data transfer on the SCSI bus. The default is Enabled. You should disable SCSI Parity Checking if any SCSI device, connected to the host adapter, does not support SCSI parity.

All Adaptec adapters default to parity checking enabled. It is recommended that all devices on the SCSI bus have parity checking set the same. Once parity is disabled on the adapter, or by a device driver, verify that all other devices have parity disabled.

To perform the following steps:

  • Reboot the system and when the message "Press CTRL-A for SCSISelect" is displayed press CTRL-A.
  • The next screen should display two options. Highlight Configure/View Host Adapter Settings and press Enter.
  • You now have the configuration screen displayed.
  • From this screen, use your arrow keys to highlight the SCSI Parity Checking option then press the ENTER key to select and change this setting to DISABLED.
  • When the change is made, press the Esc key, to exit back to the configuration screen.
  • Continue to press the Esc key to save your changes.
  • Exit SCSISelect, and reboot the system.
