IBM xSeries Tape Enclosure family offers new tape enclosures with rail options.

Overview

The new IBM 1U, 4U, Half-High, and Full-Height xSeries Tape Enclosures offer a cost effective solution for adding external tape drives to IBM tower or 1U, 2U, 3U, and 4U rack-optimized xSeries servers. These tape enclosures support one or more tape drives. The 4U enclosure will support four full-high or six half-high drives. The 1U and 4U tape enclosure can be shared between multiple servers.

The Half-High and Full-Height tape enclosures are reliable products which provide customer flexibility to meet growing back-up storage requirements in a tabletop configuration. The Half-High and Full-Height enclosures support a single tape drive.

These tape enclosures are reliable products that offer clients the flexibility to meet growing backup storage requirements in a rack or tower configuration.

Key features include:

  • Easy installation and removal of tape drives
  • Support installation mixture of one or more tape drives
  • Slide rails for easy access and serviceability (1U and 4U only)
  • Enclosures, which offer a three-year parts only limited warranty

Key Prerequisites

Supported xSeries server configurations that include SCSI host adapter with external connection.
