Features and specifications

The IBM 1x8, 2x16 and 4x16 Console Switches let you inexpensively cable, monitor, and manage your rack servers. These switches:

  • Support System x servers with PS/2 or USB KVM ports
  • Support up to 128 servers (using 1x8 switch) through chaining
  • Support up to 256 servers (using 2x16 switch) through chaining
  • Are installed outside the server with no adapter card required
  • Are easy to implement and designed for rapid deployment
  • Require no PCI slot
  • Does not require you to open server to install the switch or rerun wiring if the server is taken off line
  • Provide management software powered by intuitive On Screen Displays (OSDs), which make management and setup extremely easy
  • Have been tested with IBM racks and System x products to ensure proper functionality
  • Installs quickly and easily
  • Have a three-year limited warranty

IBM Global Console Managers (GCM) Enhancements:

  • Addition of an On-Board Web Interface (OBWI)
  • Management and administration of all GCM Appliance features and functions
  • Virtual Media and LDAP support
  • Support for Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) encryption
  • Vista support (Business Edition) for VCS
  • Fully integrated Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) support, removing need for a license key
  • Support for Virtual Media on USB 1.0 devices

Note: IBM Global Console Managers (GCM) Enhancements are for 17352GX Global 2x16 and 17354GX Global 4x16
