Overview
IBM continues to enhance its Ethernet adapter offerings by introducing the PRO/1000 MT Dual Port Server Adapter by Intel. This new adapter is based on the latest Intel 82546GB technology. It allows for 10/100/1000 Mbps speed communication over up to four pairs of industry-standard Category 5 copper cabling.

Hardware compatibility
The adapter is compatible with PCI-X 1.0 or PCI 2.x compatible Intel Pentium - architecture processor, IBM eServer xSeries systems accepting standard height or low-profile PCI adapters.
NOTE: Some configurations may not be compatible.
Software requirements
The PRO/1000 MT Dual Port Server Adapter by Intel includes a standard height PCI bracket and a low-profile PCI bracket with standard RJ-45 connections. This universal PCI adapter supports both 3.3V and 5V PCI slots. Included device drivers support the following operating systems:
- Windows 2003, 2000 and NT 4.0
- Novell NetWare 5.x and 6.0
- SCO UnixWare 7.x and Open UNIX 8.0
- Linux Red Hat, SCO, and SUSE
Additionally, this adapter supports Wake on LAN (WoL) and PXE remote boot.
Software compatibility
This new adapter can ease the transition to gigabit technology and IT administration through the IBM V8.20 software release, which is backward compatible to all current IBM Intel-based Gigabit NICs/LOMs.
Cable orders required
An adapter cable is required (not included with this adapter). The appropriate industry-standard cabling must be used when connecting to Ethernet networks. UTP-5 cabling is recommended.
