The NetBay tape enclosure rack device and the IBM 160/320 SDLT tape drive offer improved performance and reliability to meet growing back-up storage requirements.
NetBay tape enclosure rack device description
The new NetBay tape enclosure rack device expands the line of tape solutions available for storing and protecting your valuable data. This 4U tape backup enclosure unit is designed to increase tape drive rack density. The 4U enclosure will support four full-high or six half-high drives that mount directly to the enclosure. The 4U tape enclosure can be shared among six servers.
This tape enclosure is a reliable product that provides customer flexibility to meet growing back-up storage requirements in a rack configuration. It can support six internal Ultra2 low-voltage differential (LVD) SCSI connections at up to 80MB/sec. Data transfer rates depend on many factors and are often less than the maximum possible.
This high-density, modular tape enclosure is available in rack version only. Each enclosure unit contains a 300W power supply and electronics logic.
160/320 SDLT tape drive description
This tape drive offers high-performance, excellent data storage capacity and solid reliability using SDLT backup technology. The SDLT 160/320GB Generation SCSI tape drive joins the Generation 1 SDLT 110/220GB SCSI tape drive offering for the IBM eServer xSeries servers. This drive option contains a base drive, mounting hardware, 34in LVD cable, trial software, user's manual, and a cleaning cartridge. When used with certain supported servers, it is external attach only and requires installation in the NetBay tape enclosure. See Hardware requirements for IBM systems for more information.
The 16MB/sec (32MB/sec compressed) transfer rate increases performance with both back-up and restore operations. Along with an increased capacity of 160MB capacity (320MB compressed ) and backward compatibility to SDLT Generation 1 media, this drive is a natural next step in DLT technology. Embraced by enterprises requiring sound, reliable tape backup subsystems for their Intel-based servers, the 160/320GB SDLT SCSI tape drive builds on the previous SDLT offerings.

Warranty
3 year Customer Carry-in Exchange (CCE).
Notes:
- Optional features initially installed in a Netfinity or xSeries server carry the same warranty as the server. If installed after the initial system installation, they carry the balance of the server warranty or the optional feature, whichever is greater.
- These optional features are designated as Customer Carry-in Exchange (CCE); however, they become IBM On-site Repair (IOR) when installed in a Netfinity or xSeries server with an IOR warranty classification.
