Overview
The Fibre Tape Automation Adapter and Full-High SCSI Tape Enclosure provide functionality and flexibility to selected members of the IBM tape subsystem family.

Fibre Tape Automation Adapter
This adapter option allows tape backup capability of data farms supported in xSeries Fibre Channel (FC) installations. This means that data stored miles from the xSeries server can be protected with high-speed tape backup at or near the server location. This provides a high level of data protection for mission critical applications in storage area network (SAN) environments.

The Fibre Tape Automation Adapter is supported with either of the 3600 Series LTO tape libraries. It acts as a FC router to provide direct attachment to supported FC host adapters.

Full-High SCSI Tape Enclosure
The Full-High SCSI Tape Enclosure provides an economical external housing to support a 5.25-inch, full-high, tape drive. This Business Black enclosure is perfect for applications where space is not available in the server to support installation of a tape-backup device.

Fibre Tape Automation Adapter
This option can be installed in the following tape libraries:

Full-High SCSI Tape Enclosure

The Full-High SCSI Tape Enclosure is 3 U high and can be installed on a fixed shelf of a 19-inch, EIA-310-D, industry-standard rack.

Limitations
Full-High SCSI Tape Enclosure
This product requires a dedicated Ultra2 or Ultra160 SCSI channel.

• The Full-High SCSI Tape Enclosure supports only the full-high tape devices listed in the compatibility section.
• If installed in a rack, the Full-High SCSI Tape Enclosure must be placed on a fixed shelf.
