Abstract
Features and technical details of the IBM 73.4GB 10K-rpm Ultra160 SCSI SL HDD
Content
At a glance
Deploy IBM eServer xSeries servers and IntelliStation workstations using high-density, SCSI hard disk drive (HDD) technology to significantly increase your storage subsystem capacities. 73.4 GB HDDs feature:
- 1-inch, slim-line form factor -- Double storage capacity of supported systems and EXP storage units
- 10,000 rpm HDDs -- Deliver solid reliability and excellent performance
- Ultra160 SCSI interface -- Wide bandwidth for streaming data transfers
-
Available in hot-swap and standard versions:
- Converged hot-swap drive tray -- Supports xSeries servers, Netfinity servers, and EXP storage units with hot-swap bays
- Standard drive supports xSeries servers and IntelliStation workstations without hot-swap drive bays
- Predictive Failure Analysis (PFA) -- Can alert you of a problem before it occurs
- Rigorously tested in heavy network simulation test suites
Overview
Take advantage of the latest SCSI hard disk technology. Install high-speed, high-density 73.4 GB(1) 10,000 rpm Ultra160 SCSI slim-line HDDs in hot-swap or standard drive bays of xSeries servers and IntelliStation workstations.
These 3.5-inch, slim-line, hot-swap and standard HDD options can double storage capacities for those who need high-speed data storage for demanding enterprise server and workstation applications.
High-density and performance
Through advancements in areal density, these HDDs store a tremendous amount of data in a slim-line form factor. This optimizes the storage capacities of supported systems, while providing excellent storage subsystem performance:
-
Compatible(2) with many:
- xSeries servers
- Netfinity servers
- EXP storage units
- IntelliStation workstations
-
Excellent performance:
- Up to 10,000 rpm spindle speeds
- 4.9 ms average seek time
- 2.99 ms average latency
- Supports Ultra160 SCSI technology that allows data transfers of up to 160 MB/s.
Reliability
- SCA-2 compliant (hot-swap version) -- HDDs dock directly into the hot-swap backplane of supported products
- Predictive Failure Analysis (PFA) -- Can alert you of impending drive failures so replacements can be made before a problem occurs
- Rigorously tested through ServerProven program -- Optimizes compatibility and reliability of your xSeries or IntelliStation storage subsystem
- Three-year, limited warranty(3)
(1) When referring to hard drive capacity, GB stands for one thousand million bytes. Total user-accessible capacity may vary depending on operating environments.
