Technical specifications
- Connection for two 10/100 Ethernet RJ-45 connections on a single card.
- Compatible with PCI 2.2-compatible servers.
- Adapter fault tolerance protects the server's network link from failure of the cable, connector, or adapter, by using a redundant link paired with the primary link in a backup mode. If a link fails, traffic is automatically transferred to the redundant link. The server stays up and running, and the traffic transfer is transparent to both users and applications.
- Active PCI hot plugability enables reduced server downtime when installed in a supporting IBM server system. Without powering off the server, the adapter can be removed from the system for maintenance and replaced with another adapter.
- Adapter load balancing and 802.3ad link aggregation, enable the server to add scalable bandwidth as traffic demands grow. Adapter load balancing manages server traffic across up to four like adapters.
Note: This adapter does not support Dual Address Cycle (DAC) for address spaces larger than 4GB.
Performance specifications as known at time of announcement
The IBM Dual Port 10/100 Server adapter enhances the advantages of 10/100 Ethernet Connectivity with its exceptional performance, outstanding throughput and efficient utilization of the system's CPU. With support for packet prioritization (IEEE 802.1p) and Virtual LANs (IEEE 802.1Q), the adapter also optimizes throughput of data for critical applications. Boost server throughput with your choice of Adaptive Load Balancing, Intel Link Aggregation or Fast EtherChannel technologies that can also increase server uptime through link redundancy. This solution offers Wake on LAN for remote wake up of systems, and auto negotiation, enabling an easy connection to shared or switched Ethernet running at either speed.
