Removing the power supply
To remove the power supply:
- Remove the top cover:
- Turn off the server and peripheral devices, and disconnect all power cords and external cables.
- Press the cover-release button.
- Slide the cover back approximately one half inch.
- Lift the cover off of the server, and set it aside.
- Remove the air baffle:
- Grasp the air baffle. Then, lift it up out of the server and set it aside.
- Remove the hard drive backplate:
- Pull the hard disk drives out of the server slightly to disengage them from the backplate.
- Make note of where the cables are attached to the backplate. Then, disconnect them.
- Lift the backplate out of the server, and set it aside.
- Remove the screw that holds the power supply to the rear of the chassis.
- Disconnect the power-supply cables from the connectors on the system board and internal devices. Then, disengage the cables from any retention clips.
- Loosen the captive thumbscrew that secures the rear of the power supply to the chassis bottom.
- Lift the power supply out of the server, and set it aside.
