Removing the battery

To remove the battery:

  1. Remove the top cover:
    1. Turn off the server and peripheral devices, and disconnect all power cords and external cables.
    2. Press the cover-release button.
    3. Slide the cover back approximately one half inch.
    4. Lift the cover off of the server, and set it aside.
  2. Remove the air baffle:
    1. Grasp the air baffle. Then, lift it up out of the server and set it aside.
  3. Remove the battery:
    1. Press the top of the battery clip away from the battery.
    2. Lift the battery from the socket, and set it aside.
