Memory VRM (20 Amp) removal

To remove the Memory VRM (20 Amp), follow these steps:

  1. Remove the service access cover.
  2. Disconnect the power source from the system by unplugging the system.
  3. Remove the memory riser from the system:
    1. Pull the locking tabs into the open position.
    2. Lift the memory riser out of the system.
  4. Locate the memory voltage regulator module to be removed from the system processor assembly.
  5. Press the blue button to identify the failed voltage regulator module.
  6. Remove the memory voltage regulator module from the connectors.
    1. Grasp the top edges of the memory voltage regulator module to loosen them from the connectors.
    2. Place your thumb under the bottom edge of the voltage regulator module and lift it to remove the module from the connectors.
  7. Place the voltage regulator module on an electrostatic discharge (ESD) surface.
