To remove the 3.5 inch drive backplane
Remove the Top Cover:
- Turn off the server and all peripheral devices and disconnect all power cords and external cables.
- Slide the cover release latches and rotate the Fan Door open.
- Loosen the captive screw on the rear of the chassis.
- Slide the cover towards the rear of the server approximately one half inch and then lift the cover off the server and set it aside.
Remove the 3.5 Inch Drive Backplane:
- Pull the drives partly out of the server to disengage the back plane
- Disconnect the single power cable from the power distribution board and the two blue signal cables from the system board.
- Lift the backplane out of the server using caution to avoid damaging the cables.
For specific instructions for the removal and installation of hardware.
