To remove the optical drive
Remove the top cover:
-
Turn off the server and all peripheral devices and disconnect all power cords and external cables.

Loosen the captive screw on the rear of the chassis.

Slide the cover towards the rear of the server approximately one half inch and then lift the cover off the server and set it aside.
Remove the optical drive:
- Press and hold the release button as you push the drive from the rear toward the front of the server, and then pull it from the bay.
- Lift the retention clip from the drive and place it aside.
For specific instructions for the removal and installation of hardware.
