To remove the microprocessor/memory card structure:
Turn off the server and all peripheral devices, and disconnect all power cords and external cables.
Remove the top cover:
-
Rotate the top cover release latch up and slide the cover approximately one-half inch to the rear.

Lift the cover off and place it aside.
Remove the fans:
-
Open the fan-locking handle by sliding the release latch in the direction of the arrow.

Pull up on the handle to lift the fan out of the server.
Use the same procedure to remove any other fans if required.
Remove the microprocessor/memory cards:
-
Slide the retention tabs to the open position and lift the retention levers on the top of the microprocessor/memory card.

While holding the retention levers open, lift the microprocessor/memory card out of the server.
Use the same procedure to remove the remaining cards.
Remove the microprocessor/memory card structure:
-
Loosen the two retainer screws on the exterior right-side of the chassis.

Loosen the retainer screw on the bottom of the structure.
-
Pull the blue latch on the left-side interior of the chassis toward the front of the server to disengage the structure from the chassis, and lift the structure from the server.
For specific instructions for the removal and installation of hardware.
