To remove a rear system fan
Turn off the server and peripheral devices, and disconnect all power cords and external cables.
Remove the side cover:
- Unlock the side cover if required.
- Press down on the cover release latch and rotate the top of the cover away from the chassis.
- Lift the cover off the server and set it aside.
Place the server on its side, this is the recommended service position.
Remove the rear system fan:
- Disconnect the fan cable from the System Board.
- Grasp the fan and pull firmly, extending each of the rubber grommets. The grommets will be pulled through the holes the chassis and the fan can then be removed.
