Abstract

Movie that provides instructions installing the SCSI Expansion unit in a BladeCenter HS20, HS40, LS20

To install the SCSI Storage Expansion Unit Option:

  1. Shut down the operating system and power off the Blade Server.
  2. Wait 30 seconds for the disk drive to spin down.

To remove the blade:

  1. Squeeze the latches to release the handles, and then rotate the handles to the open position. Slide the blade out and place it on an ESD mat or flat non-conductive surface.
  2. To make room for the expansion unit remove a blank filler panel.

To remove a blank filler panel:

  1. Squeeze the latches to release the handles, then rotate the handles to the open position and slide the filler panel out.

To remove the Blade Server cover:

  1. Press in the cover tabs to release the latches, and then rotate the cover up and lift it off.

To remove the hard disk drive:

  1. Press down the release latch and slide the drive out of the connector, then lift it out of the blade.

To remove the IDE drive bracket:

  1. Remove the four screws and lift the bracket off the system board.
  2. Remove the SCSI terminator from the SCSI connector.
  3. Position the SCSI Storage Expansion Unit hinges over the pins in the blade chassis and rotate the unit down until the latches secure it. The connector on the expansion unit automatically aligns with and plugs into the SCSI expansion connector on the system board.
  4. Now, install the Blade Server with the SCSI Storage Expansion Option in the BladeCenter.
  5. Slide the Blade into the BladeCenter and then close the handles simultaneously until the latches secure it.

To install a hard disk drive in the Expansion Unit:

  1. Insert a finger in the drive filler and then slide the filler out of the blade, then with the drive handle in the open position slide the drive into the drive bay and then rotate the handle closed.
