Abstract

Movie demonstrating the removal and installation of the CD-ROM drive in the IBM eServer BladeCenter.

Test from the audio portion of the CD-ROM drive removal and installation movie

To remove the bezel:

  1. Press in the release tabs at the bottom of the bezel, rotate the bezel out and then lift up to remove.

To remove the media tray:

  1. Press in on the two latches and slide the media tray out of the BladeCenter

To remove the media tray cover:

  1. Use the two lift tabs to release the cover from the fasteners. Lift the cover, and then move it back to free the tabs from the slots in the tray, then lift the cover off.

To remove the CD-ROM drive, interposer and cables:

  1. Release the spring clip from the retention hook and remove it from the drive.
  2. Slide the drive out of the tray.
  3. Disconnect the signal cable from the interposer card and the customer interface card and lift out of the tray.
  4. Disconnect the power cable from the interposer card and the customer interface card and lift out of the tray.
  5. Lift the interposer card out of the slots in the tray.

To install the CD-ROM drive, interposer, and cables:

  1. Position the interposer card in the slot in the tray.
  2. Connect the power cable to the customer interface card and the interposer card.
  3. Connect the signal cable to the customer interface card and the interposer card.
  4. Slide the drive into the bay, align the holes in the drive with the holes in the tray, then insert the spring clip into the holes and secure the clip behind the retention hook

To install the media tray cover:

  1. Position the three cover tabs into the slots in the tray, and then rotate the cover down over the two fastener posts. Press down to secure.

To install the media tray:

  1. Slide the media tray into the BladeCenter until the latches secure it.

To install the bezel, insert the hinge tabs in the slots in the frame and then rotate the bezel down to the closed position.
