SCSI and ServeRAID connections on the 5500 8660-xxx, 8661-xxx and,8662-xxx series servers.
The ServeRAID channel 1 68-pin (female) SCSI connector is in the center of the planar.
- On the 5500 and 5500M10 the connector is next to the processor card support tray (housing).
- On the 5500 M20 the connector is hidden under the processor card support tray (housing).

This photo shows the 5500 planar ServeRAID channel 1 connector with the media SCSI cable attached.
- This cable routes to the media bays A and B in the front of the server and is used for compatible media devices.

- The SCSI media drive (2 drop) cable (FRU 12J3711) can be connected to a supported tape drive in the optional devices A or B bay with an industry standard 68-pin connector.
- This cable has three 68-pin (male) connectors and provides 16-bit termination.
- This cable is preinstalled on the 5500 and 5500 M10 servers.
- This cable is not preinstalled on the 5500 M20. The cable is stored inside the server on the right side under the sliding shuttle behind the DASD hot swap bay.
- An optional PCI SCSI card is required if ServeRAID channel 1 is used by the external SCSI to rear panel bulkhead cable and an optional SCSI media device is also in bay A or B.
- Check for 5500 series server proven options at
http://www.ibm.com/servers/eserver/serverproven/compat/us/

The planar SCSI ServeRAID channel 1 connector can be routed to an external 0.8mm connector with the SCSI to rear panel bulkhead cable installed.
- On the 5500 and 5500M10, the Netfinity SCSI controller cable is not preinstalled but it is available as an option (P/N 03K9313 * ) (FRU 03K9342).
- Netfinity SCSI controller cable (P/N 03K9313 * )
- On the 5500 M20, the Netfinity SCSI controller cable is preinstalled (FRU 36L9537).

The 5500 and 5500M10 are shipped with the bulkhead knockout in place on the top back center of the server.

The 0.8mm (female) VHDCI LVD/SE SCSI connector can be properly routed through the bulkhead with the knockout removed.

The ServeRAID channel 2 68-pin (female) SCSI connector is in the front of the planar board. It is shipped with the hot swap bay DASD backplane 68-pin (male to male) cable attached (FRU 12J3274).

The 68-pin hot swap DASD backplane SCSI cable (FRU 12J3274) is shipped with the other (male) end of the cable attached to the DASD backplane (female) connector.
