Resolving The Problem
To identify HIPER or PE APARs, you can refer to the CICS Fix list for the release of CICS TS that you are running:
- The "HIPER" column will contain a "Y" if the APAR describes describes a serious problem or a problem that involves all customers. The fixing APAR will contain at least one HIPER symptom flag (Pervasive, Dataloss, System Outage, Function Loss, Performance, and XSystem) that further describes the type of HIPER. These flags can also be found in columns O through T of the CSV file, and are described in the CSV file usage hints and tips.
- The "Fixing APAR if PE" column in the Fix List table will contain the APAR that fixes the PTF that was found to be in error and marked PE. If there are multiple APARs this field will contain the latest fixing APAR.
Alternatively, you can identify and then install fixes for HIPER APARs by using fix category "IBM.ProductInstall-RequiredService". SMP/E uses HOLDDATA to associate PTFs with fix categories, and the IBM.ProductInstall-RequiredService fix category identifies PTFs that fix HIPER problems. Refer to section Service Recommendation Summary and Service Recommendations in the PSP bucket information for IBM Z products document for the SMP/E commands to create a report and apply the fixes.
