How To
Summary
This video is part of a series of tutorials to help learn about Tealeaf. This video will helps create events in Tealeaf.
Objective
To Learn how to create an event
1.) Hit Attribute
An event first requires a Hit Attribute. The Hit Attribute will allows the ability pick specific strings from a page request or response. Either an exact match can be searched for or a start and end tag. When using start and end tags, the value between the start and end tags is used as the output. In the video example below, the start and end tags are used to find the total value of the items that the user adds to their cart.

2.) Event
The Hit Attribute is used as the building block for the event. The value that the hit attribute obtains (the total dollar value in the video example below), is now sent to the event. Based on that, the event can be configured to fire if the Hit Attribute is fired, or if the Hit Attribute is fired with a specific value.
The event can also be configured such that the value that was found in the Hit Attribute can be matched using Regex, or can be masked (in cases such as Credit Card information).
3.) Testing the Event
Once the event has been configured, it can now be tested in the event tester. Send a session to the event tester by clicking the "Send to event tester" button in the replay. or by going to the event tester and searching for the event.
Select the event that was created above in the event tester, and run it. The event should fire if the session has what the Hit Attribute is looking for.
