Question & Answer

Question

Active In Another Window/Error Code 00003

Answer

Dear

Thank you for contacting the IBM Global Support Center. If you are now getting the message that says the assessment is open in another window or error code 00003 you may need to allow the system to reset. We would recommend rebooting your system and waiting 45 minutes to 1 hour before re-attempting to access the assessment. Before accessing your assessment we would also recommend clearing your browser?s internet cache and cookies.

***Please Note:?Microsoft Edge is NOT a compatible web-browser.

Before we are able to start the troubleshooting steps please safely log out of your session. The following are steps for each Operating System:

If you are using a PC (Windows Operating System):
-Hold down the Ctrl Alt and Delete buttons at the same time. This will cause a menu to appear on your screen.
-Select the Task Manager option.
-Select the Applications tab.
-Select your internet browser?s icon then click End Task.
-Repeat this step until all browser web pages are closed.

If you are using MAC (Apple Operating System):
-Hold down the Command Option and Esc buttons at the same time.
-Then force quit the internet browser you are using.

To clear your Cache and Cookies:

If using Internet Explorer:
-Hold down your ALT and T keys. This will drop down a tools menu.
-In the Tools menu click Internet Options.
-In the middle of the page under the "General" tab you will find a subsection labeled "Browsing history". You will have options for "Delete" and "Settings". Click the Delete button. In the following screen you will have a list of options to select. Check the boxes next to Temporary Internet files and Cookies.
-Once you have made your selections click the "Delete" option at the bottom of the page.
-When this has finished deleting you will be returned to your Internet Options menu. From here choose the "Privacy" tab at the top of your menu. The second to last section on this menu will be titled "Pop-up Blocker". Please UN-select (ensure there is no check mark in the box) this and click apply. This will disable your pop-up blocker which you will be able to enable once you have finished your assessment.
-After you have completed this close the browser completely by exiting out of all pages.
-Once closed open a new browser and attempt the assessment again.

If using Google Chrome:
-Open a new Google Chrome Window
- In the top right hand corner of the screen you should see three lines click on this and it should take you to a drop down menu
-Select ?Settings? from this list
-On the tab this opens click on Show ?Advanced Settings? that should be at the bottom of the page highlighted in blue.
-In the ?Privacy? section click on ?Content Settings?
-In the ?Cookies? section mark the section for ?Allow local data to be set?
-Click on ?Done?
-In the ?Privacy? section click on clear browsing data
-Where it says ?Obliterate the following items from? select ?the beginning of time?
-In the boxes below you only need to check mark the ?cookies? and the ?cache?.
-Click on ?Clear browsing data?
-Close this window
-Under ?Privacy? select the content settings
-Under ?Pop-Ups? Click on ?Allow All Cites to Show Pop-ups?
-Click on ?Done?
-Close the browser and try your test again

If using Mozilla Firefox:
-With Firefox open hold down your ALT and T keys. This will drop down a tools menu. In this menu select "Options" listed at the bottom.
-In the "Options" menu select the tab up top for "Privacy" (It will be marked with a mask icon).
-About 2/3 of the way down the page there will be a message that says "You may want to clear your recent history" or "remove individual cookies". First choose "clear recent history" then a window will open where at the top it will say "Time Range to Clear". Adjust this drop-down menu to "Everything". There will be several options for check boxes. The two we need checked are "Cookies" and "Cache". Anything else can be unchecked. Then click the option to "Clear now" at the bottom of the menu.
-Once you have completed this task choose the tab at the top of the menu labelled "content". In this menu uncheck the option for "block pop-up windows". You will want to turn this option back on after you have completed your assessment.
-Close out of the browser by exiting all web pages that are open until you are on your desktop.
-Open a new browser and try your test again.

If using Safari:
-Open Safari
-Click on Safari in the top left hand corner of your screen
-Select Preferences
