Removing Category Options from Tickets

Answer

Question:? If a category is deleted what happens to existing tickets (closed or open) that currently have that category assigned?


Response:? If a request is made to delete existing category options then on any ticket (closed or open) where that category was selected the ticket will now have an unassigned category.

In order to accommodate a request to remove existing category options from future use there are two options: ?

  • Option 1 - The IBM Parature Admin can archive the category option from the dropdown list for any new tickets being created but allow existing tickets (closed and open) to keep the archived category value selected and saved into the ticket.? The only exception would be if those tickets were edited the archived category would not be available in the dropdown.
  • Option 2 - If the IBM Parature Admin changes the name of an existing category the name change will propagate to all existing tickets with the old name.? The IBM Parature Admin can also add a wholly new category option as well if that is what is needed.
