Why is the Referral URL in Digital Analytics reports blank for a page that would primarily be accessed via a link on the site?
Answer
The Referral URL is collected automatically from the page source, via the document.referrer function.
To check this parameter for your page, you can type the following string in the URL bar of common browsers:?
javascript: alert(document.referrer)
This will open up a javascript popup box displaying the value.? If this parameter is blank, the Referral URL cannot be populated.? In this case, you will need to work with your internal development team in order to ensure the value is populated appropriately.
If you have navigated to a page where you are not seeing referrer information within Digital Analytics from another page, and the document.referrer value is not blank, please contact Technical Support for further assistance either via the Support Portal at http://support.ibmcloud.com.
