QuickGuide #16: De-duplication and Summed metrics (Date Ranges)
Answer
De-duplication and Summed metrics (Date Ranges)
Within Digital Analytics Unique Visitors metric values are calculated and reported either as true unique visitor metrics by being de-duplicated or as summed daily depending on whether a fiscal or custom date range is chosen in a report.? Unique Visitors are not de-duplicated for a custom date range to allow the report to populate more quickly.
Fiscal vs Custom Date Ranges??????
In Digital Analytics users have the option of selecting either a Fiscal date range or a Custom Date range.
-
?? Results for the same periods will vary depending on whether a Fiscal or Custom Date range was chosen. It is therefore important to always use Fiscal periods when looking for? true unique visitor values to get an accurate representation of visitor traffic.
-
De-duplication is done at the end of each fiscal period. Therefore if you select the current week as a ?fiscal week? the visitor metric values are not yet de-duplicated and will display summed daily values only.
Instead you should use ?This Week? and ?This Month? options available which are reporting de-duplicated values for the current week or month.
