Question

How to use a SAMBA share with Gentran Server for Windows SAP extension

Answer

Description: The customer has GENTRAN Server for Windows and the SAP extension. The SAP host is runnig on Unix. The customer would like to use a SAMBA share (visible by Windows and Unix) to copy the files from Gentran to SAP.

Solution: This architecture can work. You need to use the Windows path (example: \\SRVNAME\DirectoryName\) for the sapint.exe "EXTRACT" or "TRANSLATE" commands. This is because the executable must access the direcotry through the Windows path.

The START RFC command using the "PATH" function must point to the SAMBA share using the Unix path (example /user/directory/) as this command is interpreted by the Unix host. (It will not work if you specify the Windows path in this command.)
