Answer
Technote (troubleshooting)
Problem(Abstract)
Compliance error code 220 (Component Delimiter) received in trace file on ISA:16 element when processing inbound data (5827)
Symptom
Error Code 220 (Component delimiter) received on inbound ISA
Compliance error code 220 (Component Delimiter) received in trace file on ISA:16 element when processing inbound data
Cause
Element 16 (which is mandatory) shows what character is to be used in the message as the sub element separator and is defined by the sender.
The inability to map to and from the ISA:16 is by design. ISA:16 cannot be activated in the map because the ISA:16 is not recognized as a field by the translator.
Resolving the problem
Highlight the ISA:16 element on the source side of the map and press the Delete key.
It is not enough to just de-activate ISA:16; it must be deleted.
It will not cause a problem for you or your trading partner and no change is required by the trading partner. Your partner can continue to send whatever value they are sending in this field. There will be no effect on your output even if other fields are currently being mapped from the ISA segment.
