Technote (troubleshooting)
Problem(Abstract)
Routing error processing an inbound FA GENTRAN:Server for UNIX ECWB (5964)
Symptom
Error: 7:unable to get file status
Cause
If a data manager translates a file that results in no output the data manager will still try to route the output. Because there is no output file for it to route the data manager results in a routing error.
Resolving the problem
If the desire is to not produce any output from the translation of an inbound FA then:
1. Remap the FA to produce an actual output. The output may be very small but there must be some output from the translation.
2a. For EC Workbench or Advanced Data Distribution change the data manager configuration record for this file to have a destination directory of /dev/ and an output file of null.
2b. For Process Control Manager edit the delivery agent for the inbound flow which processes the inbound FA. Change the destination directory and destination filename to route the output from the FA to /dev/null.
This procedure creates output from translation but routes the output to /dev/null. This eliminates the routing error.
