Problem(Abstract)
An error appears when opening Gentran from the client: DSN type information is missing using sql server dsn as a default. After clicking OK to the error Gentran opens.
Cause
Cause was unknown.
Environment
Windows XP 32bit client connected to a Windows 2003 32bit server
Diagnosing the problem
Verified registry entries were correct verify that the ODBC.ini file was correct. No errors reported in the Client's Windows or Audit log.
Resolving the problem
This issue was resolved on the client by reinstalling the latest patch and reconfiguring the client's DSN in the ODBC manager. To find the ODBC manager go to Start>Settings>Control Panel>Administrative Tools>Data Sources (ODBC)>System DSN. Follow the instructions in the Gentran:Server Installation Guide to recreate the ODBC DSN.
Note: Be sure that the ODBC data source name on the Client matches the ODBC data source name on the Server it is case sensitive. The Server's ODBC name can be found on the server in Tools>Configuration>Systems Tab.
