Question
Creating an Order from a Quote
Answer
Creating an Order from a Quote
When a customer accepts a quote the quoteis converted into a sales order. This is usually accomplished by aField Sales Representative creating the sales order although insome cases a sales order may be generated automatically. For examplea customer's acceptance of an online quote may automaticallytrigger the creation of a sales order.
The document type to be used for the order is configured.By default the document type is Sales Order. The system creates anorder from the quote using the applicable document type enterprisecode order number order header key or both order number and orderheader key and links the order to the corresponding quote. The creationof the order is driven by a template whereby line items and attributesfrom the quote are automatically copied to the order. Default customerinformation is copied from the quote to the sales order as well asall the line items except the recommended lines.
After the order is created the quote is moved tothe Ordered status enabling it to be purged by the purge agent. Theassociated opportunity record is moved to the Won status and allthe related alternative quotes for the opportunity are moved to theAbandoned status. The opportunity purge agent purges the opportunityafter all the associated quotes have been purged.
