How do I add a business partner?

Before you begin

As youexpand your use of electronic documents your business partner baseexpands.

To add a new partner:

Procedure

  1. Contact your business partner and perform the followingtasks:
    • Agree on a test schedule and date and verify the information aboutthe EDI system or VAN of your business partner.
    • Exchange EDI profile information with your business partner. Exchangeyour VAN or EDI network names and the information listed in Setting up Services. If your trading partnerdoes not use Sterling B2B CollaborationNetworkcontact Customer Support to verify the interconnect information andnetwork connection telephone number.
  2. Use Sterling Customer Center toverify the EDI ID and service provider information. For more informationsee Looking Up a Trading Partner. Ifit is not listed you can use Sterling Document Tracking toadd EDI IDs and Interconnect IDs.
  3. Decide which Sterling B2B CollaborationNetwork servicesand delivery methods to use with this business partner. Contact CustomerSupport if you have questions.
  4. If you use an EDI translator application set up your businesspartner's EDI profile in the application. If necessary contactthe vendor for help such as obtaining templates for partner profiles.
  5. Send EDI test data to and receive EDI test data from yourbusiness partner.
  6. Verify that both you and your business partner can sendand receive the test data.
  7. Use Sterling B2B CollaborationNetwork reportsto verify that both you and your business partner can send and receivethe test data.
