Customs AES Participants
Toparticipate in the AES (Automated Export System) program file a Letterof Intent with U.S. Customs. The letter should include basic companyprofile information. Upon receipt a U.S. Customs representative andCensus Client representative are assigned as technical advisors duringAES testing and implementation.
Next a customs client representative contacts you to discuss yourimplementation method: self-programming or use of a vendor or servicecenter. For more information call AES at 1-800-549-0595.
Then certification tests your ability to send and receive messagesand to respond to error messages. If you use an AES-certified vendoror service center the testing effort is minimal.
Phase 2 testing completes when you can send documents to and receivedocuments from U.S. Customs without any problems errors delaysor failures.

Commodity Formats:
- 601 (Version 4010)?U.S. Customs Export Shipment Information(To Customs).
- 824 (Version 3060)?Application Advise (From Customs). Responseto 601.
Transportation Formats
- 309 (Version 4010)?U.S. Customs Manifest (To Customs)
- 353 (Version 4010)?U.S. Customs Events Advisory Details(To Customs)
- 355 (Version 3060)?U.S. Customs Acceptance/Rejection (FromCustoms). Response to 309 and 353.
- 350 (Version 3060)?U.S. Customs Status Information (FromCustoms). Sent as required when Status changes. Can also be sent tosecondary party upon request.
