Contract Attributes

Use contract attributes to match shipments to contractsbased on attributes that are unique to your organization's shippingrequirements.

For example if your shipping costs vary based on the materialsyou might want to define these contract attributes:

  • Raw materials
  • Hazardous materials
  • Processed goods

You could then assign each attribute to a different section ofyour contract and specify different rates.

The following workflow shows how to use contract attributes:
  1. Define the contract attribute.
  2. When you define a contract assign this attribute to one or morecontract sections.
  3. When users create a shipment in Execution they can select thecontract attribute.
  4. Sterling TMS matchesthe shipment with your carrier contracts that use this attribute.
  5. You can select one or more carriers and tender the shipment.
