Question

Freight Payment Features

Answer

Freight Payment Features

Use the Freight Payment module in the IBM? SterlingTransportation Management System (Sterling TMS) to generatefreight payment vouchers. A voucher is a summary of the shipping chargesthat are generated by Sterling TMS. The voucherincludes the linehaul rate and any accessorials that apply to theshipment. Sterling TMS can submit the voucher charges to your shippingorganization in EDI or XML format. You can then import the chargesinto your accounts payable system and use that system to pay the carrier.

The Freight Payment module provides the following payment options:

  • Auto-Pay
  • Match Pay
  • Partial Payment
  • Auditing Charges Outside Sterling TMS

You can configure freight payment using only the Auto-Pay MatchPay Partial Payment or Audit Charges feature or use a combinationof these features for different shipping lanes or payees.

Tip: Shippers can specify whether the carrier must submitan invoice to Sterling TMS beforethe system generates a freight payment voucher. To use the most automatedunattended process set up an auto-pay configuration and set the CarrierInvoice Required option to No. Sterling TMS automaticallygenerates the voucher as soon as the freight payment triggers aresatisfied.
