Question
Tender Response Time in a Route Guide Rule
Answer
Tender Response Time in a Route Guide Rule
When you define your tender time fence settings for a RouteGuide you define the Tender Response Time.
The following example shows how Sterling TMS processes the TenderResponse Time:
- You set the Tender Response Time to 1 hour.
- In the Route Guide you define that you want to use sequentialtendering.
- You tender a shipment at 1 p.m. and select three carriers.
- The first carrier has from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. to accept the shipment.
- If the first carrier does not accept the shipment the secondcarrier has from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. to accept it.
- If the second carrier does not accept the shipment the thirdcarrier has from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. to accept it.
- If the third carrier does not accept the shipment by 4 p.m. SterlingTMS withdraws the tender.
Shippers have the following options for defining the Tender ResponseTime:
- Shipper administrators enter a default Tender Response Time whenthey define the Tendering Strategies in Step 1 of Shipper Configuration.
- Shipper administrators can override this default Tender ResponseTime when they define a Route Guide rule. Sterling TMS uses this settingfor all shipments that match the criteria of the Route Guide rule.
- For an individual shipment users can override the Tender ResponseTime that was specified in the Route Guide rule. Users specify thisvalue on the Carrier Selection page.
