Example of Processing Route Guide Rules in a Tender

The following workflow shows an example of how Sterling TMS processesthe primary and secondary Route Guide rules:

  1. Set up the Route Guide to perform automatic carrier selection.
  2. Define two Route Guide rules:
    • The first rule uses sequential tendering.
    • The second rule uses manual tendering.
  3. A shipment reaches the tender time fence which triggers the automaticcarrier selection process.
  4. Sterling TMS tendersthe shipment sequentially to each eligible carrier one at a time.
  5. If none of the carriers accept the load the tender expires and Sterling TMS changes the PlanStatus to Unplanned Past Due.
  6. You can tender the shipment to a single carrier:
    • Select the shipment in the Execution module and click CarrierSelection.
    • The Carrier Selection page lists the carriers that are eligibleto take the load based on the manual tendering rule you defined inStep 2.
