How to uninstall Nutcracker

Question & Answer

Question

How can you uninstall Nutcracker, which is installed as part of IBM® Rational® TestManager or IBM® Rational® Robot, and what are the effects of uninstalling it?

Answer

There is no single, unified uninstaller for all of Nutcracker because the Nutcracker operating environment and other Nutcracker components, such as X Servers, are shared resources. To uninstall Nutcracker, each shared component must be removed separately (after ensuring that no other applications are using them). The components include (in no recommended order of uninstalling):

  • NFS client (Nutcracker Professional 4.2 and higher)
  • Telnet server
  • X Server(s)
  • Nutcracker MKS Toolkit
  • Nutcracker Operating Environment

To check that no application are registered using the Nutcracker Operating Environment:
  1. Double click on the Nutcracker icon in the Control Panel
  2. On the Information tab, select "Registered Applications" from the Category combo box.

However, some vendors may neglect to register their applications on installation. Also, be sure to use "Add/Remove Programs" in the Control Panel to uninstall, instead of deleting the files manually.
