Types of Multi-Stop Shipments
Answer
Types of Multi-Stop Shipments
A multi-stop shipment lets you manage the pickup and deliveryof multiple orders as a single truckload.
A multi-stop truckload is a single shipment that contains multipleorders. This is different from a continuous move or tour in whichyou string together multiple shipments.
Sterling TMS supportsthree types of multi-stop shipments:
- Single Pickup/Multi-Drop
Outbound shipments are picked up at a single origin and droppedoff at different destinations.
For example the driver picksup a shipment at Location A and then makes deliveries to LocationsB C and D.
- Multi-Pickup/Single Drop
Inbound shipments are picked up at different origins and deliveredto a single destination.
For example the driver makes pickupsat Locations A B and C and delivers them to Location D.
- Multi-Pickup/Multi-Drop
A combination of pickups and deliveries. For example:
- An empty truck makes a pickup at Location A.
- The truck makes a pickup at Location B.
- The truck makes a delivery at Location C.
- The truck makes a pickup at Location D.
- The truck makes the final delivery to Location E.
Sterling TMS doesnot currently track more than one delivery or pickup at a single stop.
Forexample you cannot drop off an order and pick up another order atthe same stop.
