Edit Shipment Attributes Alert

Sterling TMS sendsthe Edit Shipment Attributes alert if the shipper or carrier changescertain fields on a shipment or order.

Both shippers and carrierscan subscribe to the Edit Shipment Attributes alert.

Defining Triggers for the Edit Shipment AttributesAlert

Shipper and carrier users can set up the Edit ShipmentAttributes alert to only receive the alert when certain events occur.

Forexample you might want to receive the alert when the planned departureplanned arrival or required equipment for a shipment are changed.

Whenyou subscribe to the Edit Shipment Attributes alert you can selectwhich triggers cause Sterling TMS to send thealert. You select these triggers on the Subscribe to Events or Alertspage.

You can select the following triggers in the Route/Carrier/Size/Equipment list:

  • Stops Add/Change/Reorder
  • Planned Departure Change
  • Planned Arrival Change
  • Pickup Appointment Add
  • Pickup Appointment Change
  • Delivery Appointment Add
  • Delivery Appointment Change
  • Shipment Loaded Status
  • Shipment Ready to Ship Event
  • Carrier Change (shipper users can select this trigger)
  • Weight or Volume Change
  • Quantity Change
  • Equipment Requirement Change
  • Trailer Number Add/Change
  • Shipment Unloaded Status

You can select the following triggers in the Attributes/References list:

  • Mode Change
  • Service Type Change
  • Movement Type Change
  • Freight Class Change
  • Payment Method Change
  • Payor Change
  • Notes Addition
  • Contract Attribute Add/Change
  • Accessorial Attribute Add/Change
  • Supplier Change
  • Customer Change
  • Priority Add/Change
  • Purchase Order Number Add/Change
  • Sales Order Number Add/Change
  • Load Plan Approval Reference Add/Change
  • Carrier Invoice Reference Add/Change
  • SID or Order Number Change
  • Other Reference Add/Change

Filtering the Edit Shipment Attributes Alert

Theshipper administrator can specify whether to receive the Edit ShipmentAttributes alert for the following types of shipments:

  • All shipments
  • Only tendered and covered shipments
  • Only covered shipments

The shipper administrator sets up this filter on the EventAgentspage in Step 4 of Shipper Configuration.

Filtering the EditShipment Attributes alert only applies to shipper users and does notaffect carriers that subscribe to the alert. If carriers subscribeto the alert they will always receive it if they are assigned tothe shipment.

Shipment Status Updates for Data Exchange Carriers

Inaddition to sending the Edit Shipment Attributes alert Sterling TMS also sendsupdates to data exchange carriers:

  • If the shipper changes the SID number Sterling TMS sends an EDI204 create transaction and cancels the previous SID.
  • If the shipper changes any other attributes Sterling TMS sends an EDI204 replace transaction.
